Skills and Credentials Our HR professionals must be competent, committed to continually developing their skills, and knowledgeable about the business impact of HR issues. A master’s degree is preferred, with a strong emphasis on business acumen and change management skills. Some opportunities for bachelor's level candidates may be available. Appropriate degrees include M.B.A., M.A., M.L.I.R., M.S., B.S. or B.A. with a concentration in Human Resources Management or Human Resources. Strong communication, interpersonal and computer skills are essential, as well as a willingness to relocate.
HR Summer Intern Program Opportunities are available for first-year master’s degree students with a strong emphasis on business acumen and change management skills, and we prefer a concentration in Human Resources Management or Human Resources. Juris Doctorate candidates are considered as well. We will also consider undergraduates entering their senior year. A GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale is strongly preferred.
On acceptance, you will be assigned to one of Ford’s HR teams and become a contributing member of its day-to-day operations. Recent Ford College Graduates (FCGs) will be available for guidance, mentoring and consultation.
HR Ford College Graduate (FCG) Program We’re looking for recent or pending college graduates with an M.B.A., M.A., M.S., B.A., or B.S. concentrating in Human Resources Management or Human Resources. Opportunities exist for full-time employment at Ford corporate offices in Southeast Michigan or in one of our plants or distribution centers around the country. Successful candidates will possess at least a 3.0 GPA on a scale of 4.0, strong communication, interpersonal, leadership and computer skills, and a willingness to relocate.
The FCG program is designed to familiarize you with the world of Ford Human Resources before you take a long-term assignment. Tailored to your interests, the FCG program runs four years, with three different assignments of about 18 months each in areas such as Labor Relations, Salaried Personnel, Personnel Planning and Staff, and Diversity and Work Life. An advisor or mentor will provide guidance and assistance, and a supervisor on each assignment will provide orientation, assignment descriptions, work objectives, performance reviews, training and ongoing coaching and counseling.
